The article discusses the growing importance of the fine chemicals industry in China, especially in the context of a global economic slowdown. As the debt crisis in Europe and the U.S. continues to affect international trade, demand has weakened, and export performance has become increasingly challenging. Rising labor costs and a stronger domestic economy have further complicated the situation for Chinese manufacturers. Amidst weak export demand and sluggish consumer spending, offline exhibitions hosted by e-commerce platforms have gained popularity as effective tools for business development.
From November 22 to 24, the "2011 China International Fine Chemicals Exhibition," co-organized by China Chemical Industry Network and the China Chemical Industry Promotion Association, took place in Shanghai. The event attracted over 10,000 professional visitors, including more than 800 from abroad. The exhibition generated a total turnover of 15 billion yuan, with 5.3 billion yuan in on-site transactions and 9.7 billion yuan in signed agreements—setting new records.
As one of the most influential exhibitions in the domestic fine chemical sector, it has drawn attention globally and is highly regarded by chemical industrial parks across the country. This year, Dezhou City in Shandong Province sent a delegation of 50 companies, led by the Secretary-General of the Municipal Party Committee, who personally encouraged participation. During the event, Dezhou enterprises showcased nearly 100 new products and technologies, engaged in discussions with over 300 companies, and secured 26 cooperation agreements totaling 950 million yuan. They also received over 2,000 visits and consultations.
Dezhou has been actively promoting its chemical industry and expanding market opportunities for industrial clusters. Similarly, the Texas chemical cluster has attracted numerous SMEs and exerts a strong influence on surrounding areas. With the effective use of e-commerce platforms, these clusters can significantly boost related industries and support broader entrepreneurial activities.
The participation in the Fine Chemicals Exhibition organized by Netsun Business and the Chemical Industry Promotion Council resulted in nearly 1 billion yuan in orders, greatly boosting the Texas chemical industry. It is expected that the city's large-scale chemical companies will achieve total sales revenue of 78 billion yuan this year—110.3% of the initial target—and invest 12 billion yuan in fixed assets, reaching 120% of the planned goal. The future looks very promising.
To address the issue of uneven exhibitor and audience distribution in the fine chemicals sector, the 2012 China International Fine and Customized Chemicals Exhibition (spechem.chemnet.com) will feature four specialized zones: "Chemical Equipment Exhibition Area," "Fluoro-silicon and Special Materials Exhibition Area," "Water Treatment Chemicals Exhibition Area," and "Technology Exhibition Area of Colleges and Research Institutions." Each zone has already attracted a significant number of participants.
Experts note that the success of the Fine Chemicals Show stems from the long-term resource advantages of the Netsun Business platform. Additionally, the economic downturn has pushed more companies to participate in exhibitions to find new buyers and expand their networks.
This exhibition marks the fourth major event since its debut in 2008 by Toocle.cn. Since then, it has consistently set new records in key metrics such as the number of exhibitors, booth size, and total turnover, becoming a leading global event in the fine chemicals industry.
