How to choose a flange

First, what is the flange

Flange is also called flange or flange. The flange is a part that connects the pipe to the pipe and is connected to the pipe end. There are holes in the flange, and the bolts make the two flanges tightly connected. The flanges are sealed with gaskets. Flange threaded connection (wire connection) flange and welded flange.

Flanges are disc-shaped parts that are most common in plumbing and flanges are used in pairs. In plumbing, flanges are primarily used for pipe connections. In the pipelines that need to be connected, a variety of flanges are installed, and the low-pressure pipelines can use wire-bonded flanges, and the welding flanges are used at pressures above 4 kg. A sealing point is added between the two flanges and then fastened with bolts. Different pressure flanges have different thicknesses and use different bolts.

When the water pump and the valve are connected to the pipeline, parts of these equipments are also made into corresponding flange shapes, also called flange connections. Connection parts that are closed at the same time by bolting on both planes are generally referred to as "flanges". For example, the connection of ventilation ducts may be referred to as "flange parts". However, this connection is only a part of the equipment, such as the connection between the flange and the water pump, it is not good to call the pump "flange parts". Smaller such as valves, etc., can be called "flange parts".

Second, how to choose a flange

1. At present, there are four flange standards in China, namely:

(1) National flange standard GB/T9112~9124-2000;

(2) Flange standard for chemical industry HG20592~20635-1997

(3) Flange standard for machinery industry JB/T74~86.2-1994; (See: Flange standard for mechanical parts)

(4) Financing industry flange standard SH3406 - 1996.

Take the national standard as an example to illustrate the choice of flange. The national standard flange is divided into two major systems: the European system and the American system. The nominal pressures of the European system flanges are: PN0.25, PN0.6, PN1.0, PN1.6, PN2.5, PN4.0, PN6.3, PN10.0 and PN16.0MPa; The nominal pressures are: PN2.0, PN5.0, PN11.0, PN15.0, PN26.0 and PN42.0MPa

2, the basis for selecting the flange

(1) The nature of the transport medium, general medium, special medium, toxic medium, flammable and explosive medium;
(2) According to the parameters of the medium, the working pressure and the working temperature, the nominal pressure PN of the flange is determined according to the working temperature and working pressure of the medium when the medium is determined.
(3) Determine the connection method of the flange and the pipe and the form of the sealing surface according to the place of use and the connection conditions.
(4) Determine the flange specifications according to the connection object.
