Home improvement knowledge: 6 installation specifications for toilets

(1) Begin by removing the pipe plug from the ground drain and inspect the inside of the pipe to ensure there is no debris. Once clear, clean the surrounding area thoroughly to prevent any blockage or contamination during installation.

(2) Align the toilet’s outlet pipe with the water outlet. Make sure it is level, then mark the position of the toilet bolt hole on the wall. After marking, carefully remove the toilet for further preparation.

(3) Drill a 20 mm diameter hole, 60 mm deep, at the marked spot. Insert a 10 mm diameter bolt into the hole and secure it with cement. Place the toilet flange over the bolt and align it with the mark. Once tested and confirmed, remove the toilet again. Apply putty around the toilet outlet and the lower water outlet. Then, reposition the toilet so that its four bolt holes match the bolts. Level the toilet, place rubber washers on each bolt, screw on the nuts, and tighten them gently but securely.

(4) To install the back water tank, first align the center of the toilet’s rear end and draw a vertical line. Measure 800 mm from the floor and draw a horizontal line. Mark the positions of the two side holes on the back of the tank and drill 30 mm diameter holes, 70 mm deep. Insert a 10 mm diameter, 100 mm long bolt into each hole and fix it with cement. Hang the back water tank onto the bolt and lay it flat. Ensure it is aligned with the center of the toilet bowl. Place a rubber washer on each bolt, screw on the nut, and tighten it properly.

(5) When installing the water tank elbow, first remove the nut from the back water tank and the toilet’s water inlet. Place both components together on the water elbow, and insert a rubber gasket between them. Push the upper end of the sewer elbow into the back tank’s drain and the lower end into the toilet bowl’s water inlet. Slide the rubber gasket toward the nozzle, secure the nut, straighten the elbow, and tighten it using pliers—without over-tightening.

(6) For connecting the water supply to the eight-character valve, measure the opening size of the water tank’s drift door. Match it with a suitable short section, then install the eight-character valve and insert it into the upper water pipe. Cut the copper or plastic tube as needed, bend the mother lamp fork, and then fit the drift door and splayed door nut back onto the tube. Wrap both ends of the tube with oil asbestos rope or lead oil and twine. Finally, tighten the nut on both sides, ensuring a secure and leak-free connection.
