Recently, the Tokyo Diamond Tool Manufacturing Co., Ltd. has established a technology for attaching diamond particles having a particle diameter of several micrometers to a tool. Developed a sophisticated diamond abrasive particle tool with dozens of micron particles attached to the tip opening area and several micron particles attached to the chamfered portion.

The new technology development uses the "electrowinning" method of fixing diamond on the metal surface by electroplating. The diameter of the new product attachable particles is 1/4 of the diameter of the attached particles of the existing product, enabling high-precision processing. Compared to grinding discs made of resin and metal, the production cost can be reduced by up to about half. In the past, the diamond layer could only cover one layer, and now it is designed to be multi-layered to improve the service life.

The integrated product perfectly processes hard and brittle materials such as glass, and can eliminate the replacement process of multiple tools. A very small diamond particle grinding disc using this technology is coming soon.
