Rely on plants to generate electricity to light the city

A Plant-e company founded by researchers from Wageningen University in the Netherlands has developed a new technology that can continuously obtain electricity from the growing plants and light up the city's LED street lights at night. The technology is currently available in two local locations.

This technology project that uses plants to generate electricity is very suitable for use on the roofs of urban buildings and houses. According to reports, the new technology is based on natural processes that capture electrons from the soil and rely on the continued growth of plants to generate electricity. The method does not damage the plants during use, but requires only light, carbon dioxide and water. As plants grow, they produce more sugar than they need, and these extra sugars are recovered and decomposed by the surrounding soil, releasing protons and electrons. Researchers then placed electrodes into the soil and captured electrons to generate electricity.

According to reports recently organized by the Physicist Organization Network, a few days ago, more than 300 LED lights in the city of Heimlag were completely lighted by the company’s project called "Starry Sky." And, plant power is also used for the company's headquarters in Wageningen, the Netherlands. Both projects use local aquatic plants.

The company's new technology equipment can already be used in existing paddy fields, and all types of wetlands are more suitable. Engineers can place pipes below the surface of the wetlands. Peat swamps, mangroves, rice fields, or deltas can be used to generate electricity.

The company was founded in 2009 by David Stricker and Waikkalen Helder of Wageningen University in the Netherlands. It is a company that develops potential energy, mainly for plant power generation projects.

The ultimate goal of the company is to develop the project around the world. The founder of the company said: “I hope one day, this technology can provide electricity for poor areas, and there is a rich botanical world, such as rice or nearby wetlands. If we can figure out how to operate in a low-cost way, it will mean The new clean energy will bring good news to people in areas with electricity shortages, and it is estimated that it will benefit nearly 25% of the world's population." Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose is white or white powder, and in cold water is dissolved into clarified or cloudy colloidal solution. Aqueous solution has surface activity, high transparency and stable performance. HPMC has the properties of hot gels. The product water solution is heated and the gel is dissolved, then dissolved and the gel temperature of different specifications is different. The solubility changes with the viscosity, the lower the viscosity, the greater the solubility, and the different specifications of HPMC have certain differences

Application:

The hydroxypropyl methylcellulose can be used as the water protection agent and retarder of cement mortar, so that the mortar can be pumped.

In the mortar, gypsum, putty powder or other building materials as adhesives, improve the application and prolong the operation time.

Use as paste ceramic tile, marble, plastic adornment, paste enhancement agent, still can reduce cement dosage.

The water retention performance of HPMC will prevent the slurry from cracking after the application and strengthen the strength after hardening.

The molecular formula of hydroxypropyl methylcellulose is shown below

hydroxypropyl methylcellulose

Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose has high viscosity, medium viscosity, low viscosity, and has a viscosity of 50000, 100000,150000, 200000.
